Queensland budget steady for Catholic schools

The 2017 Queensland State Budget has provided for a steady level of state funding for Catholic education in contrast to the uncertainty at the federal level.

While the majority of funding for Catholic schools comes from the federal sphere, the Queensland Government also provides important funding for both recurrent and capital expenditure in Catholic schools.

This year’s budget sees the recurrent spending on non-state schools, including Catholic schools, increase by 4.1 per cent to $681 million.

The State Government’s contribution to capital costs is also very important to Catholic schools in Queensland and the Government has committed to maintain capital spending for non-state schools at $92.6 million for 2017-18.  Read the QCEC Budget media statement here.
