Mission in Practice research report released

The Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) and the Australian Catholic University (ACU) La Salle Academy have completed Stage 2 of the collaborative Mission in Practice research project. The Stage 2 report, which provides valuable insights into the integration of school mission within educational practice across Queensland Catholic schools, was presented by the ACU team at the Commission meeting in Brisbane this week.

The Mission in Practice project aims to document, explore, and display contemporary perspectives on the relationship between mission and practice in Catholic education. Stage 2 of the project focuses on evidencing the integration of school mission within educational practice through the collection and analysis of practice-based multimedia exemplars.

The Stage 2 report highlights exemplary practices and offers a comprehensive framework for understanding and reporting on Catholic school identity. This framework serves as a valuable resource for Catholic school communities, supporting reflection, continuous renewal, and the identification of best practices.

QCEC Executive Director Allan Blagaich extended his gratitude to the ACU La Salle Academy team, including Professors Bill Sultmann, Br David Hall, Janeen Lamb, and Carmel Diezmann, for their dedication and expertise throughout the project. He also acknowledged the contributions of school communities and educators who participated in the research, providing invaluable insights and exemplars.

“The Mission in Practice project strengthens mission by identifying its practical application and showcasing exemplary initiatives that demonstrate the depth and variation of the mission practice relationship,’’ he said.

The completion of Stage 2 paves the way for the final stage of the project, which will focus on presenting the findings through an online platform, enabling the sharing of framework exemplars and multimedia presentations.
