School visits a top priority

Good Shepherd Catholic School, Rasmussen, is one of seven schools across two Queensland Dioceses to welcome Jacinta Collins, Executive Director, National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) this week.

Since her appointment in February, the former Victorian Senator has visited various Catholic education authorities, however, this is her first venture to regional schools to discuss her role at NCEC.

Ms Collins’ said her position largely involved championing for the needs of Catholic schools, which currently educate one in every five Australian students.

She said she was passionate about ensuring all Australian children received an excellent education.

Other schools Jacinta visited in the Townsville Diocese included the diocese’s newest school, St Benedict’s Catholic School, Shaw, and the biggest school in the diocese, Ryan Catholic College, Kirwin.

On her visit to the Rockhampton Diocese, Ms Collins visited St Anthony’s Catholic Kindergarten, North Rockhampton; St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Wandal; Emmaus College, Norman Gardens; and The Cathedral College, Rockhampton.
