Religious Education in Australian Catholic Schools

A new resource for teaching religious education in Catholic schools is a response to changing social, church and educational landscapes.

The Framing Paper: Religious Education in Australian Catholic Schools was published by the National Catholic Education Commission in April 2018 to support dioceses in the development and teaching of religious education with changing contexts.

Mission of Catholic schools in Queensland

The Queensland Catholic Education Commission has endorsed A reference document for Mission of Catholic schools in Queensland.

The document provides a reference point for Catholic Schools Authorities in discerning their mission.

Mission in Practice: A lens for examining Catholic School Identity has been prepared for QCEC by Australian Catholic University, La Salle Academy research team: Profs William Sultmann, Br David Hall, Janeen Lamb and Carmel Diezmann.

The project aim is to document a contemporary and imaginative perspective of the relationship between mission and practice in the Catholic school. This relationship is conceptualised and presented as a Mission Practice Relationship Framework. The purpose of the Framework is to support or guide reflection on the nature of Catholic school identity. It is offered as a resource for all Catholic schools within a context of change, community dialogue and continuous renewal.

Formation for Mission

The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has endorsed the document, A Framework for Formation for Mission in Catholic Education.

Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB, chair of the Bishops Commission for Catholic Education, launched the document on 20 March 2017.
